About

Jim Collier

James “Jim” P. Collier

I am a traveling photographer who specializes in landscapes and seascapes. I create my own prints and photo art tiles, and arrange for the printing of canvas prints of my images.

I bought my first camera when I was 16 years old, and working for Sears and Roebuck Company. It was my first employee discount purchase. I have had a camera with me where ever I go for the last 58 years, and I am constantly trying improve my skill while I search for the unusual image. I am a self taught photographer, film processor, and printer.

Although I taught myself how to process and print traditional film, I found the transition to digital technology a huge step forward, both in the taking of a photograph and working in the digital darkroom. I am constantly amazed as my images are transformed as my workflow takes me through various processing programs.

I see photography as an adventure in art, filled with surprises as I better appreciate and pause and reflect on the power and the frailness of our environment.

Visiting art galleries and art markets has been one of my favorite past times, so several years ago I began to participate in both gallery and open air art markets, in San Antonio, Texas; New Braunfels, Texas, as well as at Port Aransas and Ingram, Texas. I really enjoy the excitement artist and their art work generates, and the inquisitiveness of prospective buyers.
